ALGERIAN PARLIAMENT SAYS ‘YES’ TO DEATH PENALTY IN PENAL CODE

the Algerian Parliament has voted against the ending the death penalty in the new penal code. The Parliament’s decision contradicts the statements made by the Algerian Ministry of Justice favouring the abolition of the death penalty. The vote is also significant in light of requests by the international community and Algeria’s signing of the European Union Association Agreement.
